What can HCE Offer?
The philosophy of this practice is:
To help people look good, feel good and smile
We would like to take you through the process that we enjoy using in our practice.
From the types of consultation that we offer, through fillings, crowns, bridges
and veneers to facial aesthetics and body work.
Initial dental consultation
On your first visit to the practice it is not only important that we assess the
mouth, but that we know exactly what result you are hoping to achieve. We have a
variety of techniques that go further than just fillings and a clean. If you fall
into a category that requires more advanced treatment options then you will be scheduled
in for an advanced assessment. To make best use of your time, you have been sent
an assessment form to help us choose the correct consultation for you. You will
have been given the option to go for one of our assessment categories or just to
come for the basic dental check up.
The Basic Dental Check-up
This looks at the condition of the teeth, gums and soft tissues and any indication
that a more advanced consultation is required. We are looking for:
- Tooth decay
- Broken fillings or teeth and the necessary treatment that will be required to gain
dental health
- Dental infections - such as dead or abscessed teeth
- Pathological conditions of the soft tissues, specifically cancer
- Gingival (gum) or Periodontal disease (infection and bone loss around the roots
of the teeth) the gums and periodontium, supporting structures of the teeth
- Tooth mobility
- Oral hygiene status, plaque and calculus around the teeth.
- Pocket depths: this shows us how advanced any periodontal disease might be
- X-rays may be required to support a diagnosis
- Treatment planning - discussing treatment options or an advanced assessment with
you
The Advanced Consultation
Many people that we see complain of headaches, neck and back pain. We are aware
of the possible link between these conditions and the state of the mouth and jaw
joints. In order that we can carry out more complex restorative procedures it is
important for us to ensure that we have covered all bases. This consultation covers
all of the above unless already carried out, plus:
- A complete history of the underlying conditions.
- Postural analysis
- Muscle palpation of the head, neck and back
- Jaw joint assessment, jaw opening, deviation and deflection
- The bite and its function
- Bite height: often people feel that they need surgery for wrinkles, lines and loss
of lip; we check the bite, as this can be a major contributor to facial change and
ageing. This allows us to offer a non-surgical face-lift
- Treatment plan and options
Aesthetic Solutions
While we look at aesthetics in all categories, many of our patients come for a cosmetic
and aesthetic evaluation. In addition to these consultations we recommend 3 monthly
hygiene appointments and six monthly check ups.
Osteopathic Solutions
Many of our patients need a complete overhaul. We want people to leave looking good,
feeling good and smiling. Referral to our in house osteopath will be recommended
when needed unless you are currently seeing an Osteopath or Chiropractor.
