Bleeding Gums

Some people think they are too old or too smart to be taught how to clean their teeth properly. It is never too late to learn new and more efficient techniques to get your teeth clean. You can spend 20 minutes a day cleaning your teeth but if you are not doing it correctly you may actually be causing more damage to your teeth and gums.

The hygienist will assess the condition of your teeth and gums and then thoroughly clean your teeth. You will be advised on efficient and effective ways to keep your teeth clean at home.

You may be asked to see the hygienist on a regular basis, this is to prevent the reoccurrence of gum disease. Recent research has shown that patients who regularly see the dental hygienist experience less dental decay and require less dental treatment in the long term.

Plaque is a coating of bacteria which can be very harmful to your teeth and can cause severe gum disease.

Tooth Decay

Tooth Decay is caused by enamel erosion through poor dietary choices and lack of oral hygiene.

Gum Disease

Most common forms are gingivitis and periodontitis, caused by bacteria build up and poor oral hygiene. Gums usually become swollen, sore or infected.

Bad Breath

Bacteria build-up in the mouth and in between teeth can cause bad breath. Good oral hygiene can prevent this.
